Imphal, November 27:
Two persons including a girl have died in separate incidents in the State during the last 24 hours, official sources said.
A trader was allegedly shot dead by his business partner at Keibi Khullen Makha Leikai under Lamlai police station at 7.25 pm last night, according to the police.
The victim is identified as Abujam Rojen (42), a father of four children of Keibi Khullen Makha Leikai.
Residents also claimed to have heard another sound of gunfire in the area before the incident.
Family sources identified the assailant as Naorem James of Kakwa Naorem Leikai.
They alleged that Rojen was shot at the chest when he opened the door of his house after the assailant asked them to open it.
The gunman escaped after hitting the victim's wife Romasini (37) who tried to obstruct him.
He also threatened the residents with dire consequences if they try to follow him, the family members said.
They said that James owes Rs 10,000 to Rojen.
The assailant had reportedly come to the victim's house for the money on November 21.Lamlai police has registered a case in connection with the killing.
Post mortem of the body was conducted at the RIMS morgue today.
Meanwhile, a poison victim, Khaidem Bala Devi (15) of Kabo Wakching who was admitted to the RIMS Hospital yesterday expired at around 4 this morning.
